We are a small maintenance facility based in Griffin , GA 6A2
CAVU Wings started out doing sheetmetal repairs on a damaged RV-6. That aircraft was repaired and used for several years doing transition training for people wishing to learn to fly tailwheel RV’s. Over the years we started doing more repair and panel upgrades to RV’s and eventually other aircraft.
When the need came for a suitable training aircraft to teach family members to fly, a warrior was purchased with the intent of upgrading its tired engine to 180 HP. We intended to just upgrade our aircraft but ended up buying the STC itself and soon thereafter upgrading several aircraft before ours would see it’s turn at more power.
The Bold Warrior STC started people asking about upgrading their Cherokee. With a bit of research we were able to develop the Cherokee Scout etc, which is almost identical to the warrior upgrade.
We had purchased a Citabria and it wasn’t long before I was looking at the 150hp engine for a potential upgrade, so you can see the trend. ..
There are several other STC’s that make sense mechanically and we are considering pursuing. Mostly for improved performance or better engine serviceability. STC’s can be costly to develop and with the small number of candidate airplanes or customers, that cost cannot often be divided over enough aircraft to make it affordable. Check back though, we are always working on something new.
Currently we perform inspections on Certified and Experimental aircraft. We perform airframe upgrades and repairs and install the Bold Warrior and Cherokee Scout upgrades here in our shop.
So welcome to CAVU Wings LLC. Our mission statement is simple. Be honest and transparent. We strive to provide aircraft maintenance and repair at the highest level of workmanship, service and communication.
