“Almost like a rocket ship, almost.”

The page above is some of the original sales information on the Bold Warrior. We have not yet verified any of these performance numbers. However, shorter takeoff roll and climb rate are the biggest advantages of the Bold Warrior conversion. With a marginal increase in empty weight, the 180hp conversion is a logical choice. You can always throttle back if it’s too fast.

Sure nothing is perfect. The warrior gross weight doesn't change and it's not supersonic. But if you are looking for more performance, or at overhaul time anyway, why not have the advantages of more Horsepower?

“I love this plane even more!”

I couldn’t believe the Citabria could get better. It leaps off the ground and turns heads. I love the climb rate!

Cruising in the yellow arc is normal, and I have been throttling back and saving fuel!

Thank you for the great work!

“Exceeded my Expectations”

I took my first break-in flight today.  I must say, the upgrade exceeded my expectations—I’m impressed!

I did a ~4.5 hour round-trip flight.  Ground speed (adjusted for winds) averaged 130-135 knots.  With my old 160 hp engine/cruise prop, my ground speeds averaged 120-125 (probably closer to 120) knots.  So I can confidently say I’m seeing a 10 knot speed improvement.  I have a bunch of speed mods (wheel pants, wing root fairings, and gap seals) so I’m guessing they are now showing their real potential with the extra thrust.

I didn’t fully measure climb rate because I limited my climbs to 500 fpm to maximize cooling during break-in, but I can say anecdotally that I had no problem climbing to 7000’ at 500 fpm doing 100 knots indicated—I had to trim down aggressively to *prevent* a faster climb.  With my old engine/cruise prop carrying the same weight, I would have struggled to maintain a 500 fpm climb up to 7000’ doing 80 knots indicated.  I’m looking forward to testing best rate of climb after I put a few more hours on the engine!

Thanks again for coordinating those new baffles—they look great!
